A: "Yeah! I've never cut, especially boys', hair before in my life, but that shouldn't matter, should it? How hard can it be?"
T: "Of course not! It will be so easy. You just take the clippers and start clipping and then you cut the top with sissors!"
A: (Starts cutting. When it doesn't go so well, cuts a bit more. It takes a long time. It is very messy--hair gets everywhere.)
T: (Looks in the mirror. Panic begins to set in.) This is not even. Oh my gosh! Why is it so short here and so long back here?!?! (In his panicked state, Tim runs into the bathroom and proceeds to buzz his head with a shorter clipper attachment.)
(He's mentioned this desire before, just to see "how bald I really am." Amanda has been against it. Baldness should come naturally. We all know it's inevitable, so why speed the process?)

Discovery: Tim is getting pretty bald, but at this stage, it's patchy thinning. Buzzed head maybe isn't the best hairstyle choice? Good thing hair grows.
Oh and just for comparison purposes, let's just see an old picture of Tim from who knows when . . .
P.S. This incident also involved the only time that I actually have witnessed Tim crying.

Hahaha! Oh no! He cried? Poor Tim. At least you can say you now have experience in cutting boys' hair, right? Jeff doesn't let me cut his hair--he does it himself, and I just point out the spots in the back that he misses, and he goes back and gets them himself. He goes to a lot of trouble to NOT involve me in the haircutting process.
ReplyDeleteAww how sad!! It's funny how much our hair defines us...especially for men! haha. I remember the first time i cut Justin's hair, i read the instructions backwards and so I was giving him a mullet instead. ruccki, no? lol but he's let me try twice more since then and I've gotten better, so it's all good. Are you still in provo? I know a hair cutting place that will cut his hair and teach you at the same time. I think it costs like $13.00. Anyway, don't give up on the hair...and tell Tim it'll grow back!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Yeah I gave my little brother some crappy haircuts back in the day. It is way harder than it looks! Now I cut Nathan's hair just fine, though I still get nervous when I do it. The beautiful thing about hair is that it grows back and you can save yourself some serious money over the years by learning to cut your husbands hair
ReplyDeletesooooo funny!!! sorry Tim!
ReplyDeletei know this feeling all too well. next time i suggest a youtube tutorial, or JUST use scissors. my 2nd attempt was much less painful.
